1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2. Grease four small loaf pans with olive oil.
3. Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in a frying pan. Add the chopped green onions and sauté them until soft. Add the chopped basil and turn off the heat.
4. In a large bowl, mix the unbleached flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the eggs and milk with the onion mixture. Make a well in the dry ingredients and add the egg mixture, stirring until just blended. Do not overmix.
5. Divide half the batter among the four loaf pans.
6. Chop the tomatoes into small chunks. Place 1 tablespoon of chopped tomatoes lengthwise down the center of the batter in each pan. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of goat cheese on top of the tomatoes, topped by 1 to 2 small whole basil leaves. Finish with the remaining batter.
7. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
8. Remove the bread from the pans and cool on a wire rack. Just before serving, cut each loaf into ½-inch slices, place on a cookie sheet, and toast in the oven. Serve hot.
